Shades of blue

Suicide Sunday is in full swing, hungover and full of dread from the previous nights antics I am surrounded by dominoes and wishing I didn't have that last vodka. So, to combat the beer fear I decided to distract myself with a new blog post...

The temperature has seriously dropped in London this past week which means it's the perfect time to don the faux fur and layer up. Coats are my thing; some girls love shoes and handbags, I LOVE coats. Sadly though my new spending ban (which you can hear all about, here) will be having a big impact on updating my forever expanding coat collection. As in, I won't be expanding it. No biggie, I'll just riffle through the hundred or so I have cluttering up the back of my bedroom door.

Clashing prints

Hi my names Abbie and I am not allowed to buy any more clothes. This sad but true fact has been installed into me finally by the want to spend my pennies on other things. I know what you're thinking, what have you done with the real Abbie, and who is this imposter that wants to spend her wages on 'other things'. Well once you have heard my plea I think you'll be on board too.

I have a few city breaks planned and then a major trip to New York for my thirtieth birthday in September (FML, I'm 30) which basically does not allow for any irrational spending in Topshop.

So in a bid to save I am trying my best to re-work my wardrobe and switch-up some looks to create new outfits. I will be hitting up pinterest to take a cue from the street style stars with the intention of making my wardrobe more desirable to, well, me.

As today was the first day of not having a life  a successful path to saving I chose to style up an old checked shirt with my faithful vintage leopard-print jacket. Print clash Thursdays I like to call it.

Another Day, Another Bomber

There's nothing like an old pair of Converse - the shabbier they are the better they look, and as today was serious dress down vibes it was the perfect excuse for my old battered favourites to make an appearance.  It was also the perfect excuse to wear my black bomber jacket (I recently styled out my khaki one HERE) which is currently my go-to layer of the moment.

A totally chilled outfit to wind down a fab weekend spent with old friends, a puppy (check out my Instagram for cuteness overload), copious bottles of red wine and delicious food.

Hope you all had a good weekend!

Three Spring Trends, One Outfit...

Hello, Hello - I'm back. I seemed to have fallen into an unplanned hiatus and if I am honest, it was because I completely lost my 'blogging' mojo.  It just upped and left, maybe it's me or maybe it was just because January is such a fucking depressing month. Who knows.

But, I am back and with me, I promise to bring a new bout of enthusiasm, new outfit ideas and hopefully more lifestyle shizz. Things are going to get cray-cray as Fashion Month is looming meaning work is going to be MAD but I will be making more time for blogging - coz I bloody love it really, innit.

So onto the outfit...

I have easily slipped into a new season and am fully embracing the spring trends for 2016; the 90s, slip dresses, bomber jackets, cut-out-shoulders, metallics, silver, tracksuits... I could go on.  So much so I have already blogged about a few of my favourites HERE.

The bomber jacket is definitely having a moment but in my wardrobe, it's always been an essential. Styling this khaki number with an old slip dress and accessorising it with a fashion favourite choker it was as if an SS16 style-guide-on-a-budget threw up on me.

SS16 TRENDS

I'm loving this New Year as the thought of fresh starts and new opportunities to achieve and conquer feels good.  Not only that, but every horoscope I read lately keeps telling me that 2016 IS MY YEAR. No joke, every horoscope. What's it going to bring I wonder? A new liver, some willpower, the winning numbers on the lottery or even...dun, dun, daaan...a boyfriend.  Hmmmm, let's not get too carried away.

Alongside the whole 'New Year, New Me' vibes sits the most important newness of all - a NEW SEASON! Yep, welcome to SS16. I have been hitting Pinterest hard looking for Spring outfit inspo ready to clear out the wardrobes and have a shift round. I love to see what I have collected over the years and whether it can transition nicely into a new season - all about saving those pennies innit.

So I thought why not shout about my favourite trends whilst I am at it.  There's quite a lot I am digging but my highlights so far have to be Slip Dresses, Bomber Jackets and Off-The-Shoulder.

Slinky slip dresses are massive and so are the 90s - hooray. One of my fave eras. The whole underwear as outerwear concept is definitely one of the first trends to tap into this season and I am so down for that.

All hail a Bomber Jacket, TBF I have plenty of these already, hell I am SO 2016 ready. I have always loved the off-duty vibes of the bomber, it adds edge to an outfit and the dress-up, dress-down aspect is a sartorial bonus. They have had an update this season though - think over-sized, colours, longer in length and metal or embroidered detailing.

SHOP THE LOOK - Bomber Jackets...

This spring it's all about showing a little bit of shoulder, be it totally bare, sexy cut-outs or cool asymmetrical necklines; basically dare to bare.  I picked up lots of off-the-shoulder tops in the last of the summer sales so hopefully have enough to kick-start this trend in some of my outfits. However, I'm sure I'll invest in some more along the way.
